| Abstract: | Design and operation of sulphuric acid plants for batch smelter operations are discussed.Various options for handling the variation in gas flow and sulphur dioxide concentration are presented to ensure steady operation of sulphuric acid plants,including addition of sulphur furnace or pre-drying tower,introduction of liquid sulphur dioxide and using single absorption plant with tail gas scrubber. |
