The supply of caustic soda exceeds its demand in China. Keen competition is seen in the chlor alkali industry. Chlorine downstream products lack in depth processing and their added value is low. More attention should be paid to its development. Feedstock for the PVC production is changed in some producers. The import of vast volumes of VCM and EDC has restrained the caustic soda production and alleviated its market, but also caused the shortage of liquefied chlorine and hydrochloric acid in the domestic market and brought risks to China's PVC industry.
