| Abstract: | Red blood cells (RBC) of 7 patients with primary liver cancer were investigated with Mossbauer spectroscopy. Control measurements were carried out on RBC from 3 normal adults. The Mossbauer spectra of normal RBC are composed of two subspectra corresponding to deoxy-Hb and oxy-Hb. However, the subspectrum component of ferrous high-spin (S = 2) state for 2 patients was much less than that of normal ones. There was no indication for this contribution in the spectra of other 5 patients. No ferritin or haemosiderin iron was detected in the samples from patients. |
