Abstract: | We used proton spectroscopy to compare metabolite levels in infarcted brain tissue with the levels in corresponding normal white matter. In a preliminary study of six patients, the ratios (mean ± standard deviation) were 0.72±0.25 (p=0.04) for choline, 0.41±0.24 (p=0.002) for creatine, and 0.21±0.22 (p<0.001) forN-acetylaspartate. |
