Gemeinsame Kondensation von Phenol,Melamin und Formaldehyd. I. Modellreaktionen

The condensation reaction between phenol, melamine, and formaldehyde was investigated by means of model reactions. For this purpose conversions of derivatives of phenol and aminotriazine were carried out under different reaction conditions. The reaction products were analysed by chromatographic and spectroscopic methods. By reacting melamine with p-methylolphenols under slightly-acidic conditions (pH 5 to 6) cocondensation products with methylene bridges are formed, whereas in strong acidic and alkaline medium only homocondensation products can be found.
