| Abstract: | Taking "up -down" structure in Chinese as example, this paper compares the corresponding English spatial structure to find out the differences and similarities in forms and meanings of spatial metaphor from the three aspects of state, status, quantity, revealing the cognitive habits behind spatial relations. |
