Abstract: | A new high field test facility has been constructed for overall property measurements of the conductors developed for the superconducting coils of the TORUS II Tokamak project proposed by the EURATOM-CEA Association. This facility features a dc background field of 10 T in a useful volume of 338 mm in diameter and super-imposed pulsed fields of various configurations. The present paper describes the design, construction and operation of the 10 T field coil system in its pressurized superfluid helium cryostat. |
