Abstract: | Polyurethane (PUF) foam material was obtained by polymerizing polyether and D-methyl diisocyanate in a weight ratio of 5:3. The foam material was prepared to contain super absorbent resin (SAR), high molecular slow-release fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer to be applied for water and fertilizer conservation. SAR is for water absorbing and holding. Slow-release fertilizer is for long time Nitrogen release. Phosphorus and potassium are provided by the inorganic fertilizer. This complex material named PUFs has high efficiency of water absorbing as well as the SAR and the water retention of the PUFs was observed to reach 45–56%. SAR in the PUFs absorbed the element in fertilizer, made it release more slowly and the plant grown in the applied material had good condition. The high efficiency suggested that this PUFs have a high potential as a multi-function complex material of preserve moisture and fertility for amelioration of desertification. |
