Abstract: | Determination of the critical slip surface with the minimum factor of safety of a slope is a difficult constrained global optimization problem. In this article, an artificial bee colony algorithm with a multi-slice adjustment method is proposed for locating the critical slip surfaces of soil slopes, and the Spencer method is employed to calculate the factor of safety. Six benchmark examples are presented to illustrate the reliability and efficiency of the proposed technique, and it is also compared with some well-known or recent algorithms for the problem. The results show that the new algorithm is promising in terms of accuracy and efficiency. |
