Abstract: | The rheological behavior of mechanochemically degraded poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) was studied through a Brabender plasticorder and capillary rheometer. The experimental results show that the degraded PVC has a much shorter plasticizing time, higher plasticizing rate, and lower melt viscosity and glass transition temperature as compared with undegraded PVC. The results provide a theoretical base for using the low molecular weight PVC prepared by the mechanochemical method as plasticizer for high molecular weight PVC. |
