Abstract:Box-in structure plays an important role in reducing the noise effect of the converter transformer,but its influence on heat dissipation of the converter transformer deserves attention.In this paper,the finite element simulation method is used to study the air flow distribution around the converter transformer,the oil flow and the temperature distribution of the transformer itself with or without Box-in structure.The influence of the Box-in structure on the temperature rise of the converter transformer is analyzed,and the ventilation strategy is studied.The results show that the temperature rise of the tank walls of the converter transformer decreases with the increase of the ambient wind speed;that the convective heat transfer capacity of the tank walls of the converter transformer is greatly reduced due to the existence of the Box-in structure,which results in the average temperature of the tank walls of the transformer with Box-in structure being 3.5 K higher and the local temperature 7.7 K-17.55 K higher;and that in the case of forced ventilation,the temperature rise of the converter transformer tank walls will decrease exponentially with the increase of wind speed.Considering the ambient temperature and the air flow situation of the converter transformer,three ventilation strategies,namely direct natural ventilation,parallel natural and forced ventilation and direct forced ventilation,can be adopted.
