Syntactic Iconicity and Its Application in English Grammar Teaching

Throughout the history,people have been exploring the nature of language and such issues as arbitrariness and iconicity.Language iconicity demonstrates the relationship between words and objects in the world and the significance they convey.Such motivation is acknowledged by more and more scholars,who are dedicated to the research.This paper reviews the theory of iconicity and its application on the syntactic level and proves its practical value in the English grammar teaching through experiments.
