Analysis on the Spatial Form and Model of the Traditional Commercial Districts in Chinese Cities

Focused on the three basic elements of urban form-land use, street, and parcel, the paper summarizes the typical urban form characteristics and structural models of the traditional Chinese commercial districts, including the linear land use layout, super block and tree-like road structure, and small, narrow, tight, and irregular parcel texture. The paper aims to provide a theoretical base in urban form study, which will facilitate the future redevelopment work of the traditionar commerciar districts.
