Abstract:The Vickers and Knoop microhardness studies were carried out on the (001) face of 4-Dimethylamino-N-methyl 4-Stilbazolium Tosylate (DAST) crystals grown by the slope nucleation technique. The Vickers microhardness number (Hv) and the Knoop microhardness number (Hk) were found to dwindle with increasing load. The Meyer's index number (n) and hardness were calculated from Hv. The fracture toughness, brittle index and yield strength were calculated. The Young's modulus was calculated using the Knoop hardness value.
