FUNDAMENTAL GEOLOGIC FACTORS CONTROLLING BIOGAS ACCUMULATION

??Through analyzing 14 typical biogas reservoirs (fields) in China,six fundamental geological factors controlling biogas accumulation have been summed up as follows:??favourable biogas generation conditions;??immature source rock is the base of generating biogas and its scale determines the biogas generation intensity,thus controlling the degree of biogas accumulation;??the petrophysical property and scale of reservoir bed are the key factors restricting the size of the biogas reservoir;??effective seal and preservation conditions are the important factors of biogas accumulation;??early trap and synsedimentary trap are favourable for accumulating biogas; ?? the loss of natural gas is compensated by the biogas generated uninterruptedly and the biogas reservoir may be formed through such a dynamic balance.
