| Abstract: | 4-Hydroxymethyl-2-methyl-2-(1-methylthiomethyl)vinyl-1,3-dioxolane, 2-methyl-2-(1-methylthiomethyl)vinyl-1,3-dioxolane, and 3-methylthiomethyl-3-buten-2-one were synthesized from bis(methylthiomethyl)propan-2-one, including ketolization, and thiol elimination steps followed by acid hydrolysis. The synthesized compounds are of interest as biocides and intermediate products in organic synthesis. |
