Abstract:The effect of various organic substances on cathodic processes in the K,Na∣SCN, K,Li∣NO3, 2Al,Na∣Cl and K,Na,Li,Cs∣Cl melts has been studied by ac polarography, spectroscopic and potentiometric methods as well as by surface tension and differential capacity measurements. It has been shown that adsorption of organic substances on Pt electrodes takes place in the melts at temperatures up to 300°C and that the substances studied should be regarded as surfactants. Some surfactants were used for obtaining aluminium electrodeposits with given properties from the 2Al,Na∣Cl melt.
