Abstract: | Electricity from renewable energy sources is by definition the environmental “green” product. Sales of green power are usually supported by marketing campaign images of a melting ice cap, polar bears in danger and other environmental catastrophes. Greenprices this month takes a closer look at NGOs, organisations whose task is to raise the environmental awareness of the public, and to try to understand how they position themselves today on the green electricity market. There are to date three ways by which non-governmental organisations can play a role on the market for electricity from renewable energy sources: promoting, selling and labelling green electricity. |
