Pulse propagation in finite elastic inhomogeneous media

Abstract:The transfer matrix of a finite elastic bar is derived and the reflection and transmission functions are obtained. The matrix formalism is combined with Fourier component decomposition and applied to simulate acoustic pulse propagations in elastic inhomogeneous periodic and finite media. The numerical results are compared with experimental data to conclude about the validity of this method.
