Abstract:Fractional crystallization from the melt is a long standing method for metal refining. As science and technology invariably make constant progress, fractional crystallization is gaining importance as independent thermal process in the separation and refining of the melt. Its basic concept and physico-chemical fundamentalsare systematically discussed in this paper.
