Abstract: | BACKGROUND: The determination of seroprevalence against cytomegalovirus in women from the Autonomous Region of Madrid (Spain), and the study of risk factors associated with the infection. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Cytomegalovirus specific IgG was studied in serum samples from the women included in the 2nd Serosurvey of the Autonomous Region of Madrid. RESULTS: Seroprevalence was 75.6%, ranging from 60.6% (age group 15-24 yr) to 94.6% (36-45), being significantly higher in mothers and in those living in stacking conditions, and significantly lower in women with university studies. CONCLUSIONS: Cytomegalovirus infection is frequent in childbearing women from Madrid, more than 30% of them could be infected. |
