| Abstract: | Optical Packet Switching (OPS) is the long-term development object of optical switching technology. The research on OPS has attained considerable progress in the 1990s. This article presents the basic concepts of this switching approach and the current status of a number of its enabling technologies. Finally, the future potential of OPS in the core network is examined. |
