Abstract:This paper describes calculation and analysis on the pressure set-up by the water-hammer phenomenon and turning back speed of pump for the ash - water pump set in power plant.The outcome indicates:the pressure raised by water-hammer will crash the pump body as the pump suddenly stops;the turning back velocity is safe to the pump.We recommand that the body of the pump must be reinforced.
