The article presents an overview of production,market and application of aluminum alloy plates in China with an illustration on the production of aluminum alloy plate and ratio between production of aluminum alloy plate and sheet in the U.S.A.as well as price,main application fields,component of alloys,rules for heat treatment and rolling rate system of aluminum alloy plate in the major producing countries around the world.It provides forecast on demand for plate in China during 2005 and 2016.The demand is:106 kt in 2005,210 kt in 2010,and 380 kt in 2015.China is a net importer of aluminum alloy plate and therefore is necessary to build up more production lines of aluminum alloy plate.It is the best to employ 4 000 mm hot rolling mill(roughing)and other complete series of attached facilities including finishing machines.Importantly,the earlier to start the construction,the better returns could be made.In the U.S.A.,plate(more than 6.25 mm)production accounts for some 4% of the nation's FRPs production(excluding aluminum foil stock),versus to only 5% in China currently.
