Abstract: | Experiments have shown that the sorption of uranium from strong phosphoric acid solutions onto four D2EHPA/TOPO based ion exchange resins and one aminophosphonic acid resin is particle diffusion controlled in the uranium concentration range 42–780 μM. Interdiffusion coefficients of about 10?12 m2s?1 were obtained for D2EHPA/TOPO resins and 0.14 × 10?12 m2s?1 with the aminophosphonic acid exchanger at 20°C in 3 M H3PO4. Both homogeneous particle diffusion, based on Fick's Law, and the ash layer diffusion model fitted the kinetic measurements. |
