| Abstract: | The optical channel protection and optical multiplexing section protection means, and their practical schemes, which are common used in WDM networks, are introduced. The advantages and disadvantages of different protection means used in WDM networks are analyzed. Finally the design of protection schemes used in WDM networks are proposed. |
