| Abstract: | Carboxylated styrene-butadiene latex with a new style core-shell structure for water-based printing inks was synthesized . The effects of vinyl unsaturated carboxylic acids, initiators, emulsifiers and temperature on the polymerization and latex properties were studied. The scale-up tests were carried out in 200 L and 3 m3reactors, respectively. It was found that this latex was excellent in mechanical stability, more uniform in particle size distribution and had good pigment wetting property. The print test showed that the water-based printing inks made from this latex had excellent glossy on printed matter, fastness to adhering paper and the pictures were more true to nature. |
