Abstract: | The kinetics of the reaction between carbon dioxide in aqueous solution and aqueous diethanolamine have been studied using the thermal flow method. The data indicate that the kinetics of the reaction is complex. The particular mechanism proposed consists of two reactions which initially compete for the available carbon dioxide. One of these reactions is reversible, and regenerates carbon dioxide as the overall reaction proceeds. The species participating in the proposed reversible reaction were not identifiable from the data obtained. |
