| Abstract: | Software development is a complex, mainly cognitive endeavor. Studying these cognitions can improve software processes, but this is an ambitious task. The topic is broad, and the software engineering domain is still maturing. Positioning software engineering activities within a holistic view of the software process helps us compare it with other engineering disciplines. In this way, we can better define what is specific to software engineering and how to quantitatively and qualitatively measure these activities. |
