Practical Method of Locating and Isolation for Single Phase Grounding Fault Section of Feeders in Distribution Networks

In order to solve the problem ot single phase grounding fault locating in non-effectively grounding networks, a zero-sequence voltage based practical method of locating and isolating for single phase grounding fault section is proposed in this paper, which operates on the feeder automation system of voltage-time type. The main principle about this method is given and the operating mode of feeder terminal unit (FTU) is also discussed. At last, combined with the project of a Zhongshan loop-feeder automation system, the analysis about fault insulating process is described in detail. It is demonstrated that the method proposed is feasible and practical.
