| Abstract: | The roll of early spelling ineffectiveness has been examined and analyzed. Themechanisms of initiation and growth of crack are discussed and it is pointed out that the zonal segregation of carbide is the main cause of early spalling ineffectiveness for roll. The effective measuresare presented bo avoid zonal segragation of carbide. |
