Considerations of pressure induced birefringence in highly birefringent fibres |

| Abstract: | Whilst attempting to design a polarimetric highly birefringent (HB) pressure sensor, approximate formulae were developed for the pressure variation of the birefringence of HB fibres with stress regions made from different elastic parameter materials. In the process of producing this result, a complete reworking of an existing basic analysis was found to be necessary. |
