Abstract: | Lagos was said to be the filthiest capital in the world. Many reasons have been suggested for such situation. A survey was carried out to identify the problems associated with environmental sanitation of the Lagos Mainland and to classify the solid waste of the area. The results of various analyses carried out on the data collected show that there are significant differences in the generation, rate and the composition of the wastes. Various types of relationships exist between the socio‐economic characteristics of respondents, the composition and the rate of waste generation. Suggestions for better management are made. |
