Abstract:Predischarge current in the SF 6 gap and on the spacer surface is detected. The measuring results show that the breakdown characteristics under the positive VFTO conform to the leader mechanism. But under negative VFTO, the streamer may cause the breakdown directly. Gas pressure has a direct effect on the leader step length and time interval. The back discharge phenomenon is probably a reason for lowering the flashover voltage of the spacer stressed by VFTO.
