Dame Sylvia Crowe: The Female Leader in Reshaping the National Landscape after the Second World War in the UK

The leading contribution of international landscape architecture professionals to the industry needs to be further studied. Dame Sylvia Crowe was a pioneer in the reshaping of British landscape after the Second World War in the 20th century. She made outstanding contributions to the landscape architecture industry with a large number of theoretical books, practical works and international influence. This paper analyzes the career history of Dame Sylvia Crowe, and discusses that at the end of the Second World War, when the profession of British landscape architecture was not fully recognized by the society, Sylvia took the pioneer thought as the blade to break away from the limitations of the times, established the landscape management principles of forests and woods with the integration of national landscape as the core of the professional essence cognition, proposed landscape solutions to cope with industrial expansion, opened a new chapter of landscape planning and landscape visual impact assessment in the UK, and led her peers at home and abroad with the leadership model of "technical practice - academic theory - landscape politics", opening up the British modern landscape to lead the national landscape reshaping course.
