Abstract:A model to analyze the gas flow in the arc quenching chamber of the puff type SF 6 gas circuit breaker during short current interruption has been presented,and a calculating program has been built employing the modified fluid in cell method(FLIC).The gas flow field in the chamber of a puff type double breaker 550kV SF 6 gas circuit breaker during both loading and non loading interruption has been calculated using above program.By contrasting the calculating results,the effects of the arc on gas flow in the chamber have been analyzed.
