Abstract:This paper presents a novel damage and performance degradation model for high-rise steel and concrete-filled steel structures.The effects of concrete confinement and damages,and the post-local buckling deterioration are accounted in this model,which is calibrated by analyzing the seismic behavior of square CFST beam-columns under high-axial forces.Incremental dynamics analyses on typical high-rise CFST frame structures subjected to long-period ground motions are performed by using this numerical model with the strength degradation(SD)effect and P-Δ effect.It is found that a side-sway collapse mechanism is formed due to the development of drift concentration at bottom stories with a finite height controlled by coupled SD and P-Δeffect.
