Abstract:Combining the merits of semi-submersible and Spar foundations,this paper proposed a new steel truss foundation.Firstly,this study performed the preliminary structural design of the steel truss foundations based on a NREL-5 MW floating offshore wind turbine.Moreover,the coupled dynamic responses of the steel truss foundation floating offshore wind turbine under different wind-wave conditions were analyzed.The results show that thesurge motionof the novel floating foundation was dominated by the variations of wind speed.Meanwhile,the pitch motion was controlled by the combined actions of wind and wave.And the variation of wave forces exerted the predominant role in the heave motion.Compared with the Spar floating foundation,the steel truss floating foundation was featured by smaller response of pitch,roll and yaw and improved stability,enabling a feasible application into the floating offshore wind turbine under harsh ocean wind-wave conditions.
