Flood risk analysis of flood retention areas in the Huai River Basin

Huai River has more flood retention areas than the other river basins. Natural condition and social environment determines that flood regulation and emergency management has an important position. As a part of basic information system of flood control, flood hazard mapping has applied in the basin for nearly 20 years. Through comparative analysis of flood risks in retentions areas in the Huai River Basin, it is found that method for flood risk analysis in the retention areas should be adaptable for the flood features and regulation in the region; Some risk information should simplified according to the actual conditions so that cost can be dramatically reduced.
