hile the problems of flood and sedimentation in the lower reaches of Yellow River arenot yet solved efficiently, the contradiction of water resource supply and demand are becoming increasingly acute. In recent years. in the main channel of the Yellow River lower reach course issilted up more than past, and inundated area is increasingly larger in middle flood, the dry up timebefore flood season becomes longer and the dried channel extends more and more up reaches. Thispaper is focused at these issues. analyzed the development of water use from Yellow River. thecharacteristics of water use and sediment diverting, and the influences of water intake on therunoff, channel sedimentation and flood protection in the lower reaches of Yellow River.
