Abstract: | 20 overweight Ss (aged 20–65 yrs) who participated in a behavioral weight control program that included 2 wks on the Scarsdale diet lost more weight during that period than did 19 Ss in a behavioral group without the diet. The experimental manipulation of initial weight loss did not significantly affect subsequent or overall weight loss. At 1 yr, the average weight losses of the Scarsdale and behavioral conditions were not significantly different. (3 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2010 APA, all rights reserved) |
