Abstract:The structure of hardened portland cement paste is much more complicated than that of other solid materi-als. It is a mutiple-phased,porous structural system consisting of many components,which developes with the time andspaceof hydration, hardening and surrounding circumstances. Based on the studles made by Powers attempts have been madeto elabOrate a mathematical model for the strength of hardened portland cement paste structure through the appoach of clas-sicaI theories of thermodynamics and statistical mechanics. Finally,the author obtains a mathematical model for deformationequation of hardened cement paste:and a mathematical model for elastic strength of hardened cement paste:when compared with the test results,the deviation is about 4.5%.
