Environmental impact assessment and the urban planning crisis in Turkey

In Turkey, an environmental impact assessment (EIA) is generally conducted after the location for a new development is selected: it then becomes only an inventory of the expected damage to the enviroment. EIA should be applied more often, and Turkey should change its laws to integrate planning and EIA.
