Abstract:Process safety and efficiency of cutting test of HTPB propellant by pre-mixed abrasive water jet was studied. Based on theoretical analysis, safety and cutting efficiency of the cutting process were tested by fixed and moving cutting modes.It shows that, the cutting method effectively reduces the outlet pressure, and the impact pressure is far lower than the impact sensitivity under the premise of ensuring the cutting ability. The internal temperature rise is insignificant, so the safety is guaranteed. The research results show that at 90% confidence level, the safety of cutting is no less than 99.52%. Mereover,addition of abrasive particles greatly improves the cutting efficiency of the jet. When the outlet pressure is maintained above 30 MPa and the abrasive concentration is no less than 50%, cutting efficiency of the abrasive water jet is twice of that of the pure water jet under the same conditions. The study shows that the pre-mixed abrasive water jet has a strong cold erosion grinding effect, which can meet the cutting operation of the three component HTPB propellant in terms of safety and efficiency.
