The work is the cooperative result of the following members of the research staff at the Owens-Illinois Glass Co.: F. R. Bacon, Paul Close, D. P. Hall, R. C. Kennedy, and V. C. Rees.

Abstract:The effect of the substitution of fluorine for silica on the viscosity, liquidus temperature, and chemical durability of a typical soda-lime glass is shown. The effects of substituting P2O5 for (a) silica and (b) dibasic oxides in two typical soda-lime glasses are also described.
