Study of thytistor assisted diverter switch for on-load transformer tap changers which assure no electric arc

The scheme of the thyristor assisted diverter switch for on load transformer tap changers is presented in this paper.It can realize no electric arc,no overvoltage,surgeless current and no outage.The theory and method for eliminating the electric arc and transience which produced during the switching over of transformer taps are described in detail.The result of numerical simulation and experiment show,based on the main circuit of thyristor tap switcher and the gate tripping impulse time sequence of thyristor shown in this paper,switching of the transformer tap switcher can be guaranteed against surge and outage.
