Abstract:A PET short cutting microfiber was produced using semi-dull PET chips as raw material by melt spinning process. The effects of the melt spinning process and finishes on the production and the fiber properties were discussed.The results showed that the production was stable and the obtained 0.89 dtex PET short cutting fiber exhibited fairly good physical properties and the dispersion order 0 when the process conditions were as followed:moisture content of PET chips below 30μg/g,spin pack initial pressure of 8.5 - 10.0 MPa,spinning temperature 288 - 292℃,single hole extrusion of spinneret 0.35 - 0.45 g/min, spinning speed 1 300 - 1 500 m/min,domestic finishes TDS-2000A and TFS -90 adapted moderately.
