| Abstract: | The relation between magneto-birefringence with ferrofluid parameters and externalmagnetic field is studied. On the basis that the magnetically induced birefringence relaxes to zerowith a characteristic time constant proportional to the carrier viscosity,a fiber-optic viscometer isestablished and the initial experiments show its potential applications to viscosity measurement. |
