Overseas telecom operators develop IPTV based on "second screen" and CDN to reply to challenge
Abstract:Facing the future tendency of multi-screen convergence,the global telecom operators reply to the challenge from cable TV and internet TV operators through actively pushing "the second screen service" and improving their own CDN networks.Orange and Telstra have made second screen and CDN as the breakthrough to improve the ability in providing video services,expand services cope,and strengthen the competitiveness.Orange complies with the "open" characteristic of mobile internet,in addition to actively providing converged service.For example,it combines all kinds of SNS and applications through Blended TV,and provide technical support and platform support for other mobile applications and network TV websites.To cope with the huge competitive pressure in TV market,Orange and other TV service providers all actively carry out business innovation,and make France the vanguard of multi-screen service,which is well worth China’s operators to pay more attend and learn.The practice of Telstra also gives Chinese operators a revelation:there are large space for video services and video distribution services in the future,it is not too late to build and improve CDN network,whether for their own service development or for providing services to other customers.
