Abstract: | Broad line nuclear magnetic resonance measurements on oriented poly(ethylene terephthalate) sheets have been reconsidered, in the light of recent infra-red data on similar materials. It is shown that the n.m.r. anisotropy is consistent with a model for the molecular orientation, in which the fraction of the polymer in the trans conformation is highly oriented, whereas the gauche fraction is sensibly isotropic. |
